Clearing Fog at El Capitan
Yosemite in February 2003. As I usually do each morning, I check the view at Tunnel View for just such an opportunity, but on this morning, it was socked in. I got in my car and left. After traveling a mere 100 feet from the parking area, the fog started to break up. I turned around and found this shot. This was a lucky shot in a couple ways. First, I almost missed it because I left before it began clearing. Secondly, back then I was looking for landscape-oriented photos because they made better “calendar photos”. None of them worked for me so, on a whim, I took this portrait-oriented photo. Just in time to capture “Clearing Fog at El Capitan”.
This was taken with my film camera, Nikon N90 using a 28-80 mm lens. I don’t have the other stats on the shot. The negative was scanned in courtesy of Dick Brock at 1-888 Scan-Van.
